Latest stats for our Pro Coogs: Ian Rice continues to pace our hitters with 11 homers so far. Also added Wong, Scheiner, and Julks to the spreadsheet; Scheiner and Julks have already started while Wong hasn’t been assigned as he just signed Friday. Michael Bourn was released from Salt Lake and hasn’t been picked up yet. Grayson, Survance, and Iriart are all currently on the DL while Fulmer just came back.

Nick Hernandez and Kyle Dowdy have been tearing it up so far this year; Hernandez parlayed his success into a promotion to AA. Pruitt did better on his return to the majors, but he was sent down again at the end of June. Weigel was shut down to get Tommy John Surgery. Austin Moore was promoted as they needed to make room for the draftees. Added Romero, King, and Kasowski; King was shut down for the year 5 days after signing while Romero and Kasowski haven’t been assigned clubs yet as they just signed late this week.

Romero started to leave turmoil in his wake with a live left arm that tossed three no-hit innings. He struck out five, all swinging, and walked just one.

Dowdy (8-9) scattered seven hits, yielding only the one run and was never really threatened as he only walked one and yet struck out 11 batters. A 12th round draft choice out of the University of Houston, Dowdy was making his 19th start of the season for Lakeland pushing his innings pitched to 118 1/3.
