Galen is now 6 behind Rob Williams for 6th all-time on the assists list. Has a chance to get up to 4th (Lanny Smith and Alvin Franklin) at 502. Ken Ciolli in 3rd with 629 is probably out of reach.
As far as Games Played, if he stays healthy (knock on wood) and the Coogs are success full in the postseason (knock on more wood), Galen should end up as the all-time leader in Games played before he’s done. Michael Young is 1st at 134. Coogs have 31 total games this year so Galen should end the year with 130, which would put him alone in 2nd all time. Play 4 or more games in the postseason tournaments (conference and national) and Galen should own the record.
So happy for this young man, met him at a football game this year, is a wonderful young man and great representative for our school. He reminds me of a player also from Houston, who went to Sterling, that played in the late 70’s early 80’s. Ken Ciolli was certainly slower at 6’4, but was a tenacious defender, the kind you hate to play against. He was the ultimate team leader, who played his guts out every single game. Galen will lead us the same way this year. “Go Coogs”
Galen would need 125 more after tonight to catch Ken Cioli in 3rd. He’s guaranteed at least 13 more games at this point, but probably more. There’s an outside chance if he can continue to distribute the ball the way he has been.
Speaking of Ken, I’ve seen him at most of the home games the past couple of the years. If I’m not mistaken he’s now a retired physician and drives in from the San Antonio area. Although you would have never known it by his appearance, he was tough as nails and would have fit right in to the CKS culture.
