Summer Leagues are starting to wrap up now as only a few guys are still going. Finally found Joe Davisâ team, but stats are behind a paywallâŚwhich is odd.
Click below to zoom in. All those in red have completed their summer seasons.
For the summer Lockhart appeared in 29 games for the Gatemen, turning in 22 hits, two triples, three home runs, 15 walks, 16 RBI, 12 runs scored and two stolen bases. He also made three appearances on the mound, finishing with a 1-0 record with three strikeouts and no walks.
⢠Houston righty Fred Villarreal also generated good velocity, from a dramatically different build. Villareal is short but strong at 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, and he works fast and stays in attack mode with his 91-94 fastball. He has a short arm action and an uptempo three-quarters delivery that helps his fastball jump on hitters, and he flashed a very good short slider at 85-86, which got him a couple of strikeouts. He also showed some feel for a changeup at 81 mph. Villareal has worked mostly in relief for Houston over the last two years, and he has a clear bullpen profile, but he looks poised for a big junior year and should vie for UHâs closer job. He has dominated this summer for Waynesboro, posting a 2.66 ERA and a sparkling 34-5 K-BB mark in 27 innings of work.
