11 days until the Regional Qualifiers. Hopefully we can get Igbokwe healthy.

Women finish 10th out of 12 but really tough field. WSU, Cincinnati and SMU finish in top three.

Congrats on another win by the men!

Gilmore ran 1:50.93 in the finals good for second place. Yep, he’s going to be special.

Gilmore will be in mid 1:40’s before he’s done. Maybe faster. He looked very good for a Freshman.

Let us know when/if you hear how bad it is. He could make big difference at nationals but he has to qualify first, if healthy. Here’s hoping for the best for him.

Does this mean we are in danger of losing the Conference Championship next season because WSU did so well today or are the majority of their athletes seniors or was it luck?

I think we had some bad luck and they had a solid meet on their home track. They have a solid program, have for some time going back to the MWC.

We have some holes to fill next year. While we should be solid in conference, we don’t have the nationally ranked guys coming back as of now. Doesn’t mean that our younger guys can’t step up or that we won’t get a few top transfers, just that things aren’t as certain going forward with Burke, Lattin, Montgomery, Valencia, and Igbokwe all graduating

So it sounds like it’s 2019 or bust for a few years in nationals

It feels like we are always getting an injury at the wrong time
did someone get hurt for us in the 800m at last year’s nationals?

No, Barraza fell during the Steeplechase when he was leading. Also, Eli Hall wasn’t healthy going into the postseason so we didn’t really have him for a strong 100m and 200m after he took the 60m and 200m title at Indoors. We also lost Jared Kerr who had put up a huge long jump at the conference championship and was supposed to be in the running.

I wouldn’t say it’s 2019 or bust. We lost Barraza, Burrell, Hall, and Kerr after last season and we keep going. We picked up Igbokwe as a grad transfer and Montgomery transferred in the year before that. We’ll probably keep picking up 1-2 top runners, our homegrown guys will get better/stronger, and we’ll keep plugging along.
