That’s great! I see us getting to 6K in a couple years.
I’d rather us focus on becoming a bit more selective. AFAIK we still don’t ask for college essays.
If academic achievement is the stated goal, why is UH admitting larger classes of freshmen instead of elevating the requirements for acceptance?
My guess is larger classes bring in more money, but that’s pure speculation on my part.
Generally the admittance office accepts based on past performance: say we had 20k applicants, admitted 12k, 5000k enrolled last year. Say this year we admitted 12k again, but more students chose Houston. It could be something that simple.
Then again it could be a calculated move. We won’t know until they release admittance stats.
I’d certainly make the argument that we’re better off for that one.
