Laila Blair (Cy-Fair 17u EYBL) is as pure a scorer as there is in the class. Laila’s ability to score on all three levels whether off the catch or bounce will be invaluable as she continues her career.

A great pickup.
With the facilities, its just a matter of time till the UH women get really good.

Definitely there are a lot of good prospects in the state just have to get a few every year.

Hughey and staff are doing work in recruiting. With UCONN leaving after next season, someone has to take up the mantle for the conference. Might as well be us.

“I thank GOD for blessing me with a situation like UH,” Blair told me. “Mainly for the fact that I can rep my city playing at one of the highest levels of basketball.”

During the 2018-'19 season, Blair, 5’8" guard at Waller High School, averaged 24.5 points, 4.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.8 steals per game in 31 games and helped guide the Lady Bulldogs to a bi-district championship and a 28-8 overall record which was the school’s best record in 30 years.

I know we’ve had Palmer & Fair more recently as big time recruits who have come play in to played for the University of Houston basketball team, but Blair may end up being out the highest rated one since Chandi Jones and hopefully our best :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. I know coach Hughey is bringing in another top player from the area, as well, a point guard in 2020. If he can bring one more good frontcourt player for next year’s class, UH can have something cooking forreal. Top 25 is not out of the question

His class (Hughey) is similar to the men’s (2020). One great point guard from the state to go with a equally great backcourt mate :+1:.

The Michigan transfer-Keasja Peace was also @a top 100 recruit. She brings some needed height (6-3) this season after sitting out a transfer year.

I think we’ll be salty this year and somewhat underrated because we lost our starting 3 year starter/point guard. But we brought in a nice transfer from Tech (Sidney) to compensate for the loss.

We’ve got talent on this team, it just needs to gel to get over the hump and make the NCAA tourney. Angela Harris was a huge loss, but we get Jazz Harris back and the depth should be better this year compared to where it was at for the latter half of last season.

Laila Blair 5’9 – top 100 nationally
Julia Blackshell Fair 5’10 – top 100 nationally
KeAsja Peace 6’3 – top 100 out of HS
Dymond Gladney 5’3 – local talent
Miya Crump 5’11 – nice player via transfer
Bria Patterson 5’10 – wing from a power house program DeSoto
Paris Netherly 5-11 – nice local talent coming back
Maya Jones 6-2 – Juco brings shot blocking
Tatyana Hill 6-2 – upside is there for this local talent
Jazmaine Lewis 6-5 – true center, size and skill from Missouri. Too 100 player nationally
Tae’lor Purvis 5-9 – plays for a top team in Houston, point guard and leader. A real catch for Coach Hughey
Kamryn Jones 6-2 – From Magnolia West a player who can be a diamond :gem: in a rough find
Britney Onyeje 5-9 – transfer who will bring competitiveness and transfer from UCF

This is what the ladies squad could look like next year… CRH just needs to keep recruiting nice.

I personally would want to land someone like De’Yona Gaston 6-3 from Pearland… But don’t know what’s her status.
