2022 Case Keenum Thread - Houston Texans back home where he belongs

I remember when the TV commentators conventional wisdom was "a scrabbling QB could never win a championship . . . . . Funny how wrong they have been proven to be . . . . .

Couple videos posted of all Keenum’s pass attempts.

The first one is shorter and has all of them.

The second video shows most of them with longer commentary.

Edit - the NFL actually uploaded this to their Twitter page. Respect

I wonder how that guy feels about his hot sports take today. Cousins was absolutely terrible this week.

Man it looks like he has really worked on his velocity

Scrambling and eluding tacklers is a Case specialty. However, it increases the odds of injury and for these preseason practice games it isn’t really worth it.

What bothers me is that so many teams spend all their effort on “skill positions” but neglect the OL that is necessary to allow these guys a chance to show off their talent. BTW, to me the OL are the skill players, the WR/RB’s are talent positions. Blocking techniques are skills that must be developed; being able to run fast is a talent or God given ability.

Yes. The problem is that the average fan cannot see the techniques to which you refer.

I will never understand the instant dismissal of Case Keenum. It’s just weird.

Higher altitude!

You of course know that a lot of it is that he is not 6’4’’ 225lbs and can throw the ball 150 yards on his knees. And yet how long a list could we compile of QBs that fit this description and yet

I was unable to see the game but after watching the two videos I see tricks being used and mixing it up quite a bit.

Very deep drops mixed with a flea flicker, and quite a bit of pressure. He was overthrowing sometimes when it looked crowded and sometimes when not. It does seem he is having to hurry pretty often, He will only get sharper, he is human too after all.

How was the ruin game?

The run game is so so. They have a rookie trying to take over the starting role. They have another I believe will do good on the screens.

Andrew Luck was 6-13 with an int. For comparison.

Kirk Cousins went 3-8 for 12 yards last week as well.

Fans make too much fuss about preseason nutshell performances.

This Friday will be the ‘dress rehearsal’ so we will get to see Case in more of a real situation.

Cousins got nailed hard by an unblocked defender early in his game. I wonder if that had an effect.

That is the only good fantasy football tip you’re going to get for free.

That will change dramatically when Thomas hits the field

But he’s tall, so it’s OK.

Plus he’s from a P5 school where QBs live by their wits, guile, and grit. They aren’t just drones in a mindless system of “Arena Football”-like antics.
