So they base rankings on offers?

That is a pretty high percentage of UH recruits dropping without any games played.

I think they’re dropping in position rank due to more players being rated. At the beginning of the 2017 not many players were rated on 247. This is why I think it’s useless to rank the players. Their ratings haven’t changed which means the individual hasn’t gotten better or worse. Who cares how they compare to other players.

Let the high school season start and we’ll see how/if their personal ratings change.

If it’s the composite then it could be the other sites dropping their ratings.

Not using the composite. Using 247’s rankings

and if more are getting rated, which is most likely the case, why are almost all of ours going down. Not every recruit is getting worse.

Because ours are rated so low. Zamar Kirven, who I’m sure no rating site has seen with their own eyes, has always been a 2 star.

If these kids are at the top of their districts then we should see their ratings improve once the rating sites get more film on them.

We will find out. It wasn’t always so last year.

247 gives their opinion, nothing more nothing else. Above all I trust our Coaches and recruiters.
These so call experts make their living at it but how many times are they wrong? It starts from High School all the way to N.F.L. Coaching staffs, espn and many others. Remember, so called five stars or high first round NFL picks often do not live up to expectations.

We got East Texas on Lock!

No… 247’s ranking are a composite of all the other ranking sites; ESPN, Scout, and Rivals. So, if any of those services dropped ratings on one of our commits - which they will because a lot of them committed early and they shutdown recruiting - then it will affect their 247 rating and ranking.

Which always leaves these 4- and 5-star teams wondering how a bunch of 2- and 3- star athletes kicked their butts. Remember also, and we have seen this for 40 years, if a player commits to UH it automatically drops him in the rankings. Sad but true. Remember all the experts started making excuses immediately after UH tore Florida State a new one. Then we turned around and pounded OU and they had a hard time explaining that. The games we lost later in the year simply affirmed what they had wanted to believe. But in reality UH lost those games because our head coach was out looking for his Dream Job. You just can’t phone it in, as Sumlin proved.

We have enough “evidence” in the NFL to show kids they can come to UH and START at the next level.

No, I am not using the composite ratings…There are two sets of ratings. 247’s and the composite.

Got ya… I have never even looked at 247’s own rankings. Always look at the composite.

I think your logic is off. Their ratings haven’t gone down. More players are getting ranked ahead of them that weren’t ranked before. For all you know, 1000 more players have been rated below these guys. That doesn’t make you pass up guys rated higher than you.

You could look at it that way for sure but after tracking the class last year and seeing a number of them skyrocket after they were flipped to UT-Austin at the last minute. No new players were being ranked. Daniel Young, from a large highly scouted high school went from the 92nd ranked RB to the 38th ranked RB the day he OV’d Austin.
You could also ask why are so many being ranked ahead of our guys.

It is to sell magazines and online subscriptions. The teams that have more fans will have their commits ranked higher, because it gives the recruiting service more money. UT-Austin = lot of fans which then means $$$ for Scout, Rivals, 247, ESPN, etc.
