610 am?

Are we still supposed to hate 610? Not sure since the Coaching change.

I think CMA has been on to talk a few times if I’m not mistaken.

If you think Blowpez and friends were only a pain in the ass to Herman, then you have a short memory or haven’t been around that long.

When 790 brought back Josh Innes, it destroyed any remaining desire I had to listen to sports radio in Houston. I get all my info from Coogfans.com, Twitter and Duarte now.

I love the 950AM post game show. Great to listen to on the drive home.

I’m in the same boat as you @2002Coog.

How could sports radio be so bad in Houston? Well, I can’t stand to tell you this but unfortunately it is the norm around the country. It seems as if producers like radio tallking heads that like to shock you so they can retain your attention for a few seconds. Instead of intelligent conversation or commentary you get vitriol. Quality does not have to be trashy. The only way to get trash off your driveway is to use your recycling containers. Call their sponsors and ask for them to be removed. Without sponsors there is no radio. The same can be said for tv hosts.

610 am I am usually sitting and reading each morning. Kinda reminds me of that radio station. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I agree.

Innes said this morning when he goes to the casino he doesn’t play table games because he doesn’t know how. A sports radio station host that doesn’t know how to play craps. That’s where we are.

What about a line up with Duarte and Khan (remote location) You add Andre Ware and you call it the Cougar Hour. Does it exist? I have no clue but I am sure a few people would tune in. Is Houston sports radio about Houston or is it not? I keep thinking back of the days of KSEV with Dan Patrick, Fowler, Blineberry, O’reilly and others. I have not heard anything close to them in four major media markets since then. Quality always win.

Houston sports radio is basically Texans/NFL talk unless one of the other teams does something noteworthy to interrupt their Texans/NFL coverage for a few moments.

Unfortunately, most sports media isn’t about building anything and is more about the here-and-now. It’s why there is little to no diversity in programming from one station to another and why they mainly focus on the largest audiences (Yankees-Red Sox, NFL, UT, etc). Could you build a following by partnering with lesser known entities? Sure, but that takes time and effort and won’t make as much money right away and the people in charge want money now.

I love JD’s periscope updates. Great information and no commercial interruptions. Duarte is the exact opposite of shock-jock, which is why I appreciate him so much.

I mean, that’s the difference between a reporter and a talking head, though. To compare it to non-sports news, Duarte is the Samica Knight to Josh Innes’s Megyn Kelly.

I wasn’t aware there were any “reporters” left in the non-sports news arena.
