$75 single game tickets on sale vs TT

Just saw this announcement on Facebook. For each ticket sold, they will donate a ticket to the Rice game for first responders. I thought there would be no single tickets for sale…does this mean ticket sales are slow?

I clicked on the link and there appears to be a lot of availability left. I’m worried about that $75 pricepoint. A price cut would look bad and might be needed if one of us lose this weekend.

The pricepoint seems like a cheesy way to recover the $30 from Rice tickets they expect to go unsold otherwise. if they sold Rice/Tech tickets for a $75 deal, most of the Rice tickets would just go up for resale or end up no shows.

Wow…there is a TON of seats available…I’m surprised given the large fan base for TT fans in Houston area.

Let’s be real, besides us diehards, football is far from the forefront of Houstonians minds right now. The thinking might have been to tie in some of the charitable spirit behind the hurricane relief work to sell out both games. We’ll see if that works. I’m inclined to think that more casual fans will start thinking about buying game tickets if the game goes well Saturday.

If you watched the Astros games this weekend, the attendance was paltry for a 100 win pace team in September. Hopefully the Astros, Coogs and Texans will all give the city something to rally around, but we need some momentum first.

Until this offer, I think you had to buy multiple-game package to get a ticket to the game. Now that they will allow people to buy just Texas Tech game tickets without the others, maybe the pace will pick up.

I would rather see them do $10 GA tickets for Rice if you bring two canned food items per ticket to be donated to the Houston Food Bank or something like that. I think this would resonate as a goodwill gesture more than spend $75 on a football ticket and we will give a ticket to a first responder. Just one man’s opinion though…

Well said. Many people are worried about things other than sports right now. Maybe next week as things get back closer to normal people will be more into the Coogs. But even before Harvey, some were taking a wait and see attitude about the team anyway.

Once word gets out to Texas Tech fans they will snap up the $75 tickets. Sounds as though $120 per seat mini plan did not generate much interest.

Yeah, just had this conversation with a couple of TT alum. Lots of TT fans were going to wait until day of…resale market for this game is inflated right now, according to them. Just forwarded the link.

This will hurt the resale market…lol…suck it scalpers

Any not sold by say next Wednesday or Thursday ought to be given to people who have lost their homes and belongings. At least going to a game might help them relax and maybe smile for a change.

Love that idea. Even if just a % of empty seats.
