It depends on how you look at it, but the Cougars either overachieved, winning a share of the American Athletic Conference regular-season title and earning a regional host bid with a roster full of newcomers, or they have built a program under Whitting that can sustain roster turnover and make an NCAA run every year.

Also wasn’t aware that Cumbie might leave:

Cumbie, who emerged as the staff ace and won 10 games, is a draft-eligible sophomore.

Cumbie is draft-eligible because he will be 21 within 45 days of the draft.

Good crowd yesterday - say it was about 65-35 UH

I had about 75%-25% favor of UH. AGGS bleacher area wasn’t full at all , UH was and all area behind plate was all Coogs. Anyway not bad attendance considering it was business day esp being Monday. I know 1st 5 inn or so was brutally HOT!!

You’re probably right. I couldn’t see our bleacher area very well from where I was sitting so I didn’t know it was full. It was very loud in that 9th inning, I know that much.
