Good for Memphis and the AAC for Norvell to stay. UCF made what looks like a good hire. Major and team better be ready for next year if they want to win the AAC.

would Sumlin be a good hire at SMU?
Orlando?
Current Broyles winner whoā€™s also OC at Clemson?

Thatā€™s a hefty buyout. If thatā€™s a 5 year deal which I assume it is thatā€™s a bigger buyout than applewhite. Maybe these aac schools are wising up and adding buyouts with teeth.

I donā€™t get hires like that. Dude hasnā€™t won anything over there in Ponyland. Why is he a better hire than Les Miles or someone like Mack Brown? People that have won national championships? I donā€™t get it.

Explosive offense is the new thing in college FB, so OCā€™s with good track records are moving to the top of the charts.

[NOTE: It will be interesting to me to see where Kendall Briles lands his first HC position.]

Why would Mack Brown or Les Miles want to coach at a P6 school? That is if they are even interested in getting back into coaching.

Gotta wonder why we havenā€™t heard of any P5 schools making them any offers.

Sumlin would be a great hire by SMU, but it sounds like he may be angling for the Oregon job. I doubt he ends up at SMU unless the deep pockets feel like throwing a ton of money at him.

Orlando would be an interesting hire for SMU, but Iā€™m not sure heā€™d be successful there. Defensive coaches donā€™t seem to work well in Ponyland and heā€™d have issues building a staff (same problems he would have had here). Rumors are that heā€™s not the greatest recruiter either. Hell of a defensive mind whoā€™d honestly be a good bet to be a top notch DC in the NFL if he wanted to take that path.

Clemson OC, Tony Elliott, would be an interesting hire because heā€™d probably keep some continuity for the offense, but he has no ties to Texas and has been at Clemson going back to his playing days.

If Iā€™m SMU, I go to Lane Kiffin and Kendal Briles, throw some money their way, and bring them in. Kiffin would fit right in at SMU and Ponyville is probably the one place in Texas that can bring in Briles as OC and no one give a crap.

I was referring to Chad Morris to Arkansas in my post.

I agree with your assessment. Plus, he gets a guaranteed high salary. Where are the incentives?

Well. I guess we will find out how good Orlando would have been.

On a positive note, the Whorn D was the only good thing for that team. Judas might do even worse next year without CTO saving his bacon.

Orlando looks like a better hire than what the power schools are getting.
Wish Memphis didnā€™t retain Norvel, that would have helped. Still Going be tough conference next year.

Based completely off speculation by some guy at the Dallas Morning News, but hey being first beats being right

Will UT come after our D.C.?
