Houston out hit UConn, 14-7 en route to its third straight 10+ hit game – all coming in this week’s tournament. The Cougars were led offensively by junior Corey Julks, who drove in four RBI on two hits, which included his seventh home run of the season. Junior Connor Hollis drove in three RBI on two hits and freshman Lael Lockhart Jr. plated a pair of RBI on two hits.

Also adding a two-hit day and driving in a run in the win was junior Jake Scheiner and freshman Tyler Bielamowicz.

American Pitcher of the Year Trey Cumbie proved why he is one of the best arms in the league, tossing 7.0 shutout innings, allowing just two hits and one walk with seven strikeouts en route to his 10th win of the year in just his 14th start. He is now 10-1 in 2017.

Freshman Fred Villarreal worked the final 2.0 innings in relief, allowing two earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
