The Rise Season 3 Episode 22

The UConn women reached the century mark last night for consecutive wins … and what a magical evening it was. It rained hundreds… quite literally… but that bill might be worth more than the real thing…

On the men’s side, it was a wild week in The American, as SMU’s 60-51 win over number 11 Cincinnati vaulted the Mustangs into a half game lead atop the conference standings. With a lockdown defense, SMU has held 19 straight opponents to 66 or fewer points, and has won 18 of those contests.

The marquee matchup of the week will take place Saturday night, as we’lll see a resurgent Houston team hosting SMU in a Texas showdown. The Coogs, led by Damyean Dotson’s six straight games with 20 or more points, have won five consecutive matchups to move into possession of third place. A win would bolster Houston’s NCAA Tournament bid as we come down the stretch in the regular season.

Speaking of the NCAA Tournament, The road to Clearwater – and possibly the road to Omaha – begins Friday for American Athletic Conference baseball teams as the 2017 season gets underway.

Over to softball where the first weekly honors were announced on Monday. USF senior Kristen Wyckoff was tabbed American Player of the Week. Memphis junior Molly Smith earned Pitcher of the Week honors.

And, in women’s golf… UCF Senior Ashley Holder was the named the women’s golf player of the week last Wednesday after posting a Top 10 finish at the UCF Challenge.

Don’t forget the 2016 American Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship gets underway in Houston Texas this week… you can catch all of the evening sessions Wednesday through Saturday live and for free on the American digital network.
