Aerial shot of new UH Law Center building under construction

Thanks for posting ; always nice to see campus evolving for the
better. I must say I’m a bit surprised at the size of the building footprint.
I was expecting it to be a bit bigger ?

It’s five stories. They’re mostly building up, not out.

Do you recall if teaching units 1 and 2 will be demolished as part of the project or
repurposed ? I was trying to find out what the new square footage will be as compared
to existing structures. In the process of trying to answer that question, I stumbled across
the Mixon book about the law school’s history. What a delightful read it seems to be as I was
skimming thru the chapters.

So I guess the new building will not have a basement floor. We’ve now disposed of the
underground computing center by E Cullen and PGH(old C&O), UC underground, uc satellite, and soon law library. I’m thinking none of the newer buildings on campus will ever have basements
again. I did read where 54% of the existing law school sq footage was below grade :frowning:

To be honest, I don’t know what’s in store for the old law school facilities.

I figure they plan to raze it and make it into parking?

As of now UH would like the current facility to remain in tact.

How will it be repurposed?
