After 61 years in business, Welcome Wilson Sr. sets the standard

Wilson was born in San Angelo, but his father eventually moved the family to Houston. Wilson graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in business administration in 1949, and worked for the university’s College of Nursing before he was drafted for the Korean War.

Decades later Wilson served as chairman of the University of Houston Board of Regents and was responsible for recruiting Renu Khator to become president.

“That was the best job I ever had,” Wilson said in his office on Westheimer, where he still reports to work in a suit and tie. “My four passions in life are my God, my family, my country and the University of Houston. And none of them have ever let me down.”
