During an appearance at a reading event Friday morning, football coach Major Applewhite noticed one of the students from the UH Charter School wearing a burnt orange University of Texas cap. After leading a cheer of ‘Go Coogs,’ Applewhite approached Tyler, a 6-year-old student, and replaced his UT cap with an oversized Cougars cap.
“I saw there was an orange cap and we’re on our campus,” Applewhite, a former record-setting quarterback for the Longhorns, said after the Read Across America Day event celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday. “That’s our rules. He got his cap back.”
