I like the addition for his knowledge and what he can bring to a still very young OL. Clearly he did not start but you can be sure he will want to change that. I love “hungry” players. More than likely this will be it for his football career after this season. These are the guys that can surely help us. I have said it before but with this up coming season that is the area that I have had the most concerned.
Just because he didn’t see much action at AU doesn’t mean he isn’t good. They have a whole lot of talent over there and have guys that would start for many decent teams riding the pine.
He was a highly rated 3* coming out of high school and was highly regarded. Problem in the SEC is that a lot of kids get lost in the shuffle because of a number of issues. They also normally have a number of kids transfer out as they have to make room for the next group of kids that they made promises to or want to see if they can prove themselves. Aggies are having a similar issue which is why they are getting Chevis.
It’s also possible that he’s coming to work with Coach Scelfo. Scelfo’s got a lot of ties in the southeast and he’s got a good recruiting pitch to potential recruits with his recent work experience with the Falcons.
They also had a TWO TIME FCS All-American OL transfer in. Auburn may have a heck of an OL next year. Edit to add, I also just read they got another grad transfer from FSU. Wilson Bell, a 6-5, 320-pound guard, started 18 games the past two seasons at Florida State, including every game in 2015.
No, no I did not say he was not good. He is fresh and can bring us a ton of upside especially with our still young OL. I love the fact that he actually graduated. That is a major plus for me. Just think about the knowledge that he brings to us.
