Basketball adds Britney Onyeje, Guard, transfer from UCF

Onyeje comes to Houston after spending a season in Orlando at UCF. The Pflugerville, Texas native will return to her home state to join the Houston Women’s basketball program as a guard. Onyeje closed out her high school career as a two-time TABC All-State and TABC All-Region selection, appearing in the TGCA All-Star Team as a senior. Her senior season was highlighted by a nomination for the McDonald’s All- American game, and Team MVP honors. During her sophomore season Onyeje was named the 13-6A Defensive Player of the Year, earning District MVP honors her junior year and newcomer of the year honors during her freshman season.

Onyeje redshirted the 2018-'19 season at UCF. However, unless she’s granted a waiver from the NCAA, Onyeje is not expected to play for the Coogs until the 2020-'21 season.

Onyeje graduated from Pflugerville High School in Pflugerville, TX. She earned Team MVP honors for the 2017-'18 season; and, she was a two-time Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) All-State and All-Region selection her junior and senior years.
