Basketball: Houston Opens Road Swing at Memphis (L 66-65)

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis enters play on Saturday with a 8-11 overall record and a 1-5 mark in American Athletic Conference play. The Tigers have lost three straight contests dating back to their last win, a 65-62 victory at UCF on Jan. 7.

As a team this season, the Tigers average 59.6 points per game while allowing opponents to score 63.1. Memphis shoots 40.1 percent from the field and 28.7 percent from beyond the 3-point line. The Tigers’ opponents shoot 42.0 percent from the field and 31.5 percent from deep.

Memphis has three players who average double-figures in scoring, led by 14.6 points per game from Cheyene Creighton. Brea Elmore contributes 13.4 points per contest, while Taylor Williams scores 11.3. On the glass, Creighton paces the team with 7.7 rebounds per game while also swatting nearly a block per game.

Coogs led almost the entire way only to fall at the end. This one is a tough one to swallow:

TOP PERFORMERS
Houston: Houston had double-figure scoring from three players, including a team-high 19 from Jasmyne Harris. Angela Harris fouled out with 18 points, while Serithia Hawkins added 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds for her eighth career double-double and fourth this season.
