Barnes joins the Cougars from Hinds Community College where she averaged 13.0 points per game and pulled down 5.4 rebounds per contest while playing 24.7 minutes per night. A 5-10 forward, Barnes was also active defensively, coming away with 1.8 steals per game and swatting nearly a block every other contest. Barnes made her way to Hinds Community College after appearing in seven games for Michigan State during the 2015-16 season.
”Octavia is going to have an immediate impact in our system,” Hughey said. “She is capable of playing multiple positions and she excels on the break by running the floor and playing in open space. She has good length to create space and shoot the long ball over players.”
