It’s curious that Bowlsby would openly tell the media he will advise the league to expand.
He’s either a complete idiot. Or he knows damn well that if the league does not expand, there soon may be no Big 12 to commission. So he’s doing everything he can to save his job.
If they vote NOT to expand, however, he looks completely toothless given today’s comments. He may voluntarily resign if they don’t expand.
Very strange statement by Bowlsby and I have to agree with you. Bowlsby definitely sees the writing on the wall and very well may know something about the future.
Maybe this is a push to get the non-OU/UT schools to take action.
TCU’s coach Garry Patterson even mentioned yesterday that the best way to determine a champion was via round robin, and NOT a conference championship (if the league only has 10 teams). He said what works one year may not work the next, IE having an 12-0 team play a 7-5 team is a lose/lose. He actually had the audacity to say the championship should be determined differently each year based on what’s best for the conference. Hilarious. If they go the championship game route, they need to expand. If not, just stay at 10 teams and do the round robin, which I personally feel is the best way to determine said champ.
“… You can make a call as to whether you think Baylor was too strong in the way they dealt with it” is my favorite quote ever. It’s like saying post-war Germany agreed to never again sell pork on the sabbath.
