Got our QB for the class! Beat out Virginia, Syracuse, UNC, Rutgers, Cincy, UCF, and 8 others for this kid. Nice height on this kid that contrasts with King and Smith.

Now, If UH can steal someone like Coburn away from Texas, that would make this class pretty good and it would set it up nice going forward.

If Coburn signs with us and we sign all the guys currently committed this would be a pretty dang good class. Let alone if we add a few more.

Love the signing but he does have a ton of areas where he can improve. His throwing motion is a big question mark same for his decision making. It is always tied. Having CMA is major plus for him/us. A diamond in the rough.
Not a signing. No one can sign until the early signing period in December.

The Cougars’ 2018 recruiting class is already nearly wrapped up following Amie’s commitment. Houston stand at 19 commitments and will likely keep some available scholarships in storage in case they decide to seek out a transfer following National Signing Day in February. First place in the AAC, the Cougars’ 2018 class ranks as the 37th best class in the nation following Amie’s commitment.

A few observations:
- Tyler Lee is smack dab in the middle of perhaps the most fertile recruiting area in the state BEAST Texas. They also go west into the eastern edge of the Metroplex for district opponents. Last season the Raiders played Longview, Marshall, the Mesquite ISD schools, Rockwall and of course the annual battle of the roses vs. Tyler John Tyler.
- Amie’s athleticism jumps off the screen. He’s a fluid athlete who looks very comfortable moving in and around pocket.
- He looks taller than 6-3. He’s a long strider.
- He has a very efficient throwing motion. Upper body and lower torso lineup.
- Good arm strength. Looks pretty effortless.
- The Tyler Lee offense at times seemed to be “snap the ball the Amie and let him do something awesome.”
- Not a ton of help around him.
- Typical spread throws, lots of verticals.
- Several throws of 60 yards give or take on the fly.

Thank you for posting. That is the writer’s opinion and I sure hope that he is right. IMO he has a ton of room to improve on and that includes his decision making and throwing motions. A 10-7 mark is not a coincidence. You can be sure that with different stats his offers would be quite different In case we do get him (I went too fast with signing) you can bet that CMA will change/work on his mechanics. He has a ton of potential/diamond in the rough. I remember how Greg surprised everyone on how good his passing game/skills improved. Chance can take the same path. Let’s hope it is with us.
He is not the runner Ward was in high school, but his passing skills are no doubt better at this point. MA and our staff will make this guy a much better quarterback in the future.
In all fairness it should be noted he is much bigger than Ward was and he does not play on a team with near as much talent IMO…I am looking forward to going up and watching Tyler Lee play Lufkin this year…he is a special talent and I am glad he has picked the Cougars at this point…but we still have a long ways to go…

His ceiling is very high. With great coaching at the college level, he can become a real good quarterback. Has the size, mobility, accuracy & arm strength. Poise and decision making qualities look like they’re there. Will keep a close eye on his senior season this year.
Between him and Bryson Smith, the future at QB looks very bright. CMA does have a preference when it comes to the type of quarterback he is recruiting for; a dual threat. Which I prefer at the college level. Even if his passing game is average but his running game is way above, your team has a fighting chance.
