Congrats to the Coogs! I'm an LHS Pack grad from '86
From The Lufkin Daily News:
Jackson said he chose Houston over offers from Arkansas State, Texas State and Sam Houston State.
“I started taking trips down there my sophomore year. Since then, it’s just felt like home,” Jackson said Wednesday before 7-on-7 practice. “I get a positive vibe every time I’m around there. The coaches have also shown a lot of love. Houston was the place I wanted to be.”
Jackson — a three-star recruit by 247sports and Scout — caught 52 passes for 1,030 yards with 10 touchdowns as a junior for the Panthers.
With his college decision behind him, Jackson, who moved to Lufkin from Alabama in the fifth grade, is ready to have a big senior season.
“It’s good to know where I’ll be going,” he said. “I can now focus on just playing.
“This is something I’ve always dreamed of. It’s a dream come true, really.”
On Saturday, Jackson helped the Lufkin 7-on-7 team clinch a berth in the state tournament in College Station later this month.
