Breaking down 2019 Houston football: Running back

A disciple of the pass-heavy Air Raid, new coach Dana Holgorsen has sought a balance in recent seasons and estimates that his teams at West Virginia ran the ball 50 to 60 percent of the time. When Holgorsen decides to go with a ground-and-pound approach he will have a loaded backfield that features returning leading rusher Patrick Carr, Mulbah Car, Texas transfer Kyle Porter and quarterback D’Eriq King.

As the featured back, Carr had a breakout season in 2018 with 868 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games. Carr has ability to break off long runs, ranking fifth in the American Athletic Conference with 11 runs of at least 20 yards last season. His best game came against Tulane when he rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns.

Kyle Porter ahead of Patrick Carr on the depth chart? I don’t see that happening.

I think he’ll be in the mix

Can’t wait to see that diamond formation again. Carr as a lead blocker for King looks good to me!
