The University of Houston Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture & Design graduate student recently won The Sharpstown Prize for Architecture for designing a single-family home that will be built on a vacant lot in the Sharpstown Community of Southwest Houston.

Thakker’s design, “Screen House,” is inspired by his view of today’s high-tech world.

“Technology has taken over so much that we don’t even talk to each other even if we are in the same house,” he said. “I designed a house in the shape of a ‘C’ with a courtyard as the centerpiece, so people and space will naturally interact with each other and the site.”
