I have umpired this kid numerous times, he’s a good one. Well coached at the HS level, played for one of the best programs in 3a. Great all around athlete. Attitude, desire and hustle are all 1st rate. Great pick up!

Rhett Trlicek’s opportunity came after a University of Houston coach attended a Hallettsville practice and watched him catch.
Trlicek rarely played the position during his four years on the varsity and was primarily used a pitcher and an infielder.
“I’ve always been a catcher,” he said. “But when I got here they had guys who could catch, and I did what I could to help the team.”
Trlicek did enough in practice and in the one game the Houston coaches watched to earn an offer from the Cougars and he accepted.
