Rivas is originally from Rancho Cucamonga, CA where he committed and played last year for Long Beach State. However, he’s moved on to Southern Nevada for a year and will join Houston next year.
Last year for LBSU, Rivas hit .291/.365/.327 in 27 games and 55 at bats. He showed some pop in the winter league where he played for Wisconsin in the Northwoods League; in 178 at bats he hit 10 homers and drove in 31. As a senior in high school, he hit .477 in 30 games which got him selected by the Angels in the 36th round. He was also offered by TCU, Hawaii, San Jose State, and Cal Baptist.
