This spring, Hulon, a junior, has seen her profile rise as quickly as her strikeout total. Although she struck out 300 batters for Marble Falls last season, the achievement didn’t draw much attention because the Mustangs won only 10 games and missed the Class 5A playoffs. Pitching for area powerhouse Dripping Springs this spring, Hulon has combined 244 strikeouts with 17 victories and a 0.68 ERA for a team sporting a 23-6 record, including an 11-1 mark in District 26-5A.

When the week began, Hulon had recorded 74 more strikeouts this season than the pitcher just behind her in the American-Statesman’s rankings, Thorndale sophomore Riley White.

Hulon said playing on a winning team has meant more than receiving additional attention for individual achievements.

“I love winning and being part of this softball culture in Dripping Springs,” said the 5-foot-8 right-hander, a Houston Cougars pledge. “It means a lot to be a Dripping Springs Tiger.”

It was the University of Houston-bound pitcher’s first no-hitter this season. Hulon said she didn’t think about the milestone during the game and simply tried to focus on throwing inside when she pitched to McNeese State University commit Ortiz — which only happened with no one on base.

“I didn’t really have a game plan for pitching to Aaliyah,” Hulon said. “I just tried to hit my spots when I threw to her.”

Coach’s Comments: “Logan is one the best pitchers in 2019 class… solely based on her dominating mound presence and performance. The near 70-mph pitcher is the complete package: elite velocity, great control, deceptive movement/spin and best of all, she is the most competitive pitcher! She wants to win every pitch and at-bat and usually does. Last summer she led her team to a Top 5 finish at PGF Nationals this University of Houston commit is a stadium-filler and game-winner! When she is not blowing it by the opponent, you may also hide her in the batting line up helping her team win offensively as well. They don’t make pitchers like Logan anymore!”

Pitching should remain a strongpoint of this program. We have really good coaches that have shown they can develop pitchers.
