Zoe finished 3rd in the 6A state tournament last year and has won quite a few local tournaments.

Slaughter tied for third with Seven Lakes sophomore Lauren Nguyen at the regional tournament, won by Elina Sinz of Tompkins.

Last year at state, Slaughter placed 11th individually. The junior has higher expectations for herself as well as the team.

“I’m really shooting for the top five this year,” Slaughter said. “A top three would be great, but a top five is really my goal, just because the competition is tough. Top three (team) would be what we’ve been working toward.”

Looks like Zoe finished 2nd at State:

Memorial rising senior Zoe Slaughter earned an alternate spot for the Junior Amateur, shooting a 74, June 25 on the University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque.

Committed to the University of Houston, Slaughter was the UIL Class 6A state runner-up this past spring. Her under-par rounds of 71 and 70 were merely two strokes from a state title.
