@pray10 Hey man, great job on all of your threads. In this same spirit since most of us probably cant keep up, would you be able to compile throughout the season (probably only preseason for most of these guys) their progress, like big contributions, guys who make starting spots, stuff like that? that seems right up your alley!
Kenneth Farrow, a running back from Tom Herman’s rising Houston Cougars program, is making progress. The undrafted rookie lacks exciting sprint speed but is efficient.
Joey Mbu (Atl) vs. Was: No stats Elandon Roberts (NE) vs. NO: 3 Tackles and 2 assists Sebastian Vollmer (NE) vs. NO: No stats for OL Demarcus Ayers (Pit) vs. Det: 1 Rush for 14 yards, 1 reception for 5 yards, 1 punt return for 0 yards Alex Cooper (Cin) vs. Min: No stats for OL Derrick Mathews (GB) vs. Cle: 1 Tackle DJ Hayden (Oak) vs. Ari: 1 Tackle Nolan Frese (Sea) vs. KC: 2 Tackles, 3/3 FG (Lg 52), 5 Punts (44.8 Avg) Lee Hightower (Ind) vs. Buf: 4 Tackles (Tied for team lead) Case Keenum (LA) vs. Dal: 6-7 58 yards, 1 rush for 3 yards (Started, played 3 series, 1 TD - Case was 4-4 on TD drive) Kenneth Farrow (SD) vs. Ten: 16 rushes for 60 yards (Both team highs), 2 receptions for 25 yards, recovered 1 fumble Adrian McDonald (SD) vs. Ten: 3 Tackles and 1 Forced Fumble
Summary:
Barring injury, Case will start the season as the starter for the Rams and probably will finish it. Goff looked like a lost rookie and Fisher may want to give him the Steve McNair treatment and sit him for a year or two. Wouldn’t be surprised if Goff ends up 3rd string behind Sean Mannion who also had a good game.
Farrow is running 3rd string at running back in San Diego right now and McDonald was “all over the place making plays” according to one report I read. Looking good for both to stick.
Frese looks like he won the job in Seattle and is the only Long Snapper on the roster. The way he played today against KC, he’ll probably stick.
Hightower led the Colts in tackles tonight with 4.
Elandon Roberts did his thing and seemed to do well on special teams.
Demarcus Ayers showed some flashes when he touched the ball.
What did young Bolts show vs. Titans?
Chargers rookie Dexter McCoil made a splash on special teams, and rookie OLB Christopher Landrum picked up his game
New Friend of The Blog, Tom Herman, the excellent coach of the Houston Cougars, got it right when he praised the toughness and savvy of former Cougars Kenneth Farrow and Adrian McDonald, two undrafted rookies. Farrow, who appears to be pressing Dreamius Smith, the nominal fourth-string back, is hard-nosed. He has compact, efficient movements. Safety McDonald filled hard and jarred the ball from a rusher.
You wish the two were each a tick or two faster, but at the pencil stage of their auditions, they’re checking off boxes for aptitude.
Cincinnati’s Alex Cooper, who played offensive tackle for Houston, moved to the interior of the Bengals line in his NFL debut in a narrow 17-16 loss to the Vikings.
New England’s starting right tackle, Sebastian Vollmer sat out the Patriots’ 34-22 win over the Saints
