Kopp has a number of offers from quite a few schools including our new conference mates, Wichita State.

Yeah, until we become a legit powerhouse of a program, I think we’ll have a tough time recruiting super talented kids that have lived in the city their whole lives and get offers from OOS elite universities. Vanderbilt for example has rly been recruiting heavily in the Houston area (they got Maxwell Evans from Bellaire High last year and have a good shot at Kopp) and apparently Northwestern is starting too. We have a better chance that kids that are in-state but out of the city, places like Dallas and San Antonio.

While I don’t disagree, I think in Kopp’s case, we weren’t really coming after him hard and probably only offered him because he is a hometown kid. Not saying he’s not good, because he is definitely talented and has a nice shot, just saying that the connection was never there between either side.
Also, his brother is at Vanderbilt.
