After sitting through that ### show tonight at TDECU watching this replay was like mana from Heaven. Hinton loves the ball and looks oh so comfortable with it in his hands. 7 rebounds, 7 points, 2 assists, and I think a couple of steals.
What is he going to do in front of an energized crowd at home?
Love the attack…love the high intensity D. Armoni was like a razor.
Maybe a few too many TO’s but damn satisfying after FB season.
I just want to bathe in this thread and wash the muck of football off my glorious body and mind.
It was a great game. We buried a team we should. In the past this would have been a 70-50 type win.
Sampson was really into the game. Broke the clipboard during one of the timeouts. It was good to hear the Cougar Brass play all the fight songs we don’t hear much anymore at the football games.
I didn’t see the trash time minutes but I felt like in the first half and first part of second half that Gresham seemed like he had better defense and better offensive moves than Alley. He had some turnovers but he didn’t make dumb fouls. Hopefully those two battle each other for starting position throughout the OOC schedule to make both better by conference start.
You may be correct. I’m not great at looking at guys on the court and saying “that guy is the obvious post player.” I feel like we don’t have a legit center and in that case, if two forwards are the best on both sides of the ball and they both happen to be best suited to playing the post, I’d hope the coach has good double post options. Then again, against bigger teams, Brady has almost always gotten into foul trouble in only 10 to 15 minutes of play, so it really depends on how much of a drop off their is after the first two big guys.
Breaon/Gresham definitely subbed for each other in this game. Hinton backed up Alley at the “4”.
I actually thouoght Breaon played well yesterday and was moving better than he did last year. Gresham gives the team an entirely different look when he comes in as he’s much more athletic. I think Breaon works better with the starters, especially when Corey and Armoni are in at the same time as it gives them just a bit more spacing to shoot those 3’s. Gresham operates better as a high-post, pick-and-roll guy that probably isn’t going to scare folks with his post play.
i am hoping they put out in the next body bag game an extended line up with galen, dejon, hinton, chris harris and brison (aka the non shooters) and force one of them to be aggreessive taking it to the paint to improve on that
add dejon into the mix when he settles down, he flat out rebounded their big in on of the plays last game
IMO dejon will at some point in the season get a triple-double (our first in decades)…he is doing like 8 assists a game, 5rebounds and 6points, in the last 2 games
The two forward power scheme is actually a very workable approach to things in an age when so many 3’s are attempted and missed shots make it to the free throw line.
Oh, and our guys transition veeeery quickly off missed shots.
