Coogs to Aloha/Hawai'i Bowl vs Fresno State

Smiles and style with miles and briles.

Eh. If you’re counting the USF win as luck, you have to count the Memphis L that way, too. If Winchester (IIRC) doesn’t drop a pick against Memphis, or Postma doesn’t fumble on that second-last drive, that’s probably a W.

So you think we are going to lose Fresno State?

I think that we will be healthy for the first time all season. Recall we started the season without key players - King, Carter, and we lost two linemen just prior to the season. Also since we had a late bye week people got beat up as we got others back. So we should have everyone back that can be back to 100%. So at the very least, our Defense should be pretty stout.

Furthermore, King will have a month to get mental reps. I am not worried about his physical ability, he just needs the mental reps to trust his inticts passing, reading blitzes, etc.

I think we will be prepared, look hungry, look crisp, and really set the tone for next year.

I think if you go back to preseason predictions, most posters were predicting 7-5 or 8-4 regular seasons, some 9-3, a couple better than that. Of course I always predict running the table – and some day we will!

Hope you are right.

I could be wrong. I think a months time gives everyone (players and coaches) to fix issues from the season that couldn’t be fixed within the one week between games. If we fall flat then there will be some changes in the offseason.

Sorry you missed the Veer. It was incredible in its day. Just like today Yeoman had problems recruiting those really big, athletic linemen who just controlled the line of scrimmage. So he compensated with speed and stealth. Sound familiar? Blew up the record book. 400 yds of offense was a really big deal and UH did that and more just about every game. Footnote: Andre Ware was recruited as a QB to run the Veer.

Fresno State had the biggest turnaround in FBS this season, going from 1-11 to 9-4 in coach Jeff Tedford’s first season. The Bulldogs advanced to the Mountain West Conference championship game, losing to Boise State 17-14.

This will be the first meeting between the two schools.

National rankings (in parentheses): Scoring offense 26.7 (78), total offense 386.8 (85), rush offense 156.8 (78), pass offense 229.9 (66), scoring defense 17.2 (9), total defense 319.0 (16), rush defense 116.6 (15), pass defense 202.4 (37).

This continues a strong string of bowl games for the Cougars. It’s the team’s 11th bowl appearance in 13 seasons, and it is Houston’s fifth straight bowl game. That five straight bowl games number is the second longest streak among all of the teams in the American Conference. This is the 26th bowl appearance in Houston history.

Houston vs. Fresno State, Hawaii Bowl. December 24. 7:30

Houston makes the longest trip of any Texas school as they head to Hawaii to take on Jeff Tedford’s Fresno State team. The Bulldogs surprised a lot of people with their 2017 season, almost winning the Mountain West. They’re coached by surly old Tedford who returned to the college ranks and in year one got all the way to nine wins.

This is a great matchup for the Cougars; two can beat a top-tier G5 and put a cherry on top of their season.

Christian was a big reason for Deontay Greenberry flipping from Notre Dame on signing day.

0-11 was a disaster, this was just disappointing. Hopefully CMA has learned a lot and next season sees vast improvement

This made me start shaking. I expect nightmares the next few nights. It didn’t matter how much alcohol I drank during those years.

Hopefully he doesn’t listen to some people on these boards. They want us fire both coordinators and start over. lol

Bought 2 tickets for our men & women in the military. Thank you for your service. They’ll be there for me as I can’t make that trip. Go Coogs!
