As for how the Cougars move forward in the backfield, Patrick Carr (8 carries for 74 yards, TD), Mulbah Car (7 carries for 41 yards) and Williams (7 carries for 16 yards) combined for nearly all the Cougars’ rushing attempts. With the up-tempo offense, UH plans to rotate three or four running backs throughout the season. Carr, who was seldom used last season, has earned playing time after his performance against Rice. Offensive coordinator Kendal Briles summed up the backfield rotation Wednesday: “(Coming out of the spring and preseason camp) we felt not great about just one guy. If there is one dude you can hand the ball to 20 times a game we would give it to that guy. Right now we just don’t feel like we have that person. I think we’re still finding it.”
