Cross country marches on to season finale at conference championships

Tulsa is by far the largest threat to the Houston men’s team, as it has finished No. 1 at the AAC Championships the last four years in a row.

For the women’s team, SMU and UConn are the two most threatening teams, with UConn having won last year’s championship and SMU winning the year prior to that.

The good news on the men’s side is that the team is very young this season and should see improvement over the next 3-4 years.

On the women’s side, Lobodzinski, Santos, and Castleberry are freshmen and Sorensen has one more year.

I think we have a handful of guys who can be top 25 conference runners, but I am not sure if any could be top 10 guys. We need a couple elite recruits if we want to compete for a conference title. If you look at UConn’s and Wichita St’s finishes, that is what I think we will look like in 2 years.

Also on a side note Barraza will be running the USA track & field 5k championships next Saturday (Nov. 3rd) in NYC. 1st big race since college. This is a huge race, it’s the day before the marathon and will be stacked in competition.

Agreed. We still need some elite talent to come in to have a chance.
