King, who took over as Houston’s starting quarterback in the final four games of 2017, will look to become the second Houston quarterback to win the award after Greg Ward Jr., now a member of the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, won the award in 2015.
King is second among returning quarterbacks in The American in scoring and is Houston’s leading returning passer and receiver.
King has been named to the Earl Campbell Award preseason watch list despite only taking over at quarterback in the last four games of the season. It’s obvious the sky is the limit for this year’s Cougar offense with King leading the charge; he is second among the American Athletic Conference quarterbacks in scoring.
