It took 5 injuries (3 in game) for Knicks to go with 4 guards. Dot finally got some serious run & the ball enough to do his thing.

“The bulk of the credit has to go to Damyean Dotson, who scored a career-high (duh) 30 points, and grabbed 11 rebounds. He is the first rookie with at least 30 and 10 since—I kid you not—Patrick Ewing.”

Dot just proved he can play in this league. Now, he just needs the opportunity.

Since Knicks added Burke & Mudiay (2 massive lottery busts for Jazz & Nuggets) they use this years lottery pick Frank N at SG.

Add C Lee & Dot just cant get his run.

So, Dot had a pretty good 1st season for a 2nd rounder:

44 G
2 GS
10.8 MPG
4.1 PPG
1.9 RPG
.7 APG
.3 SPG
.8 TOPG
44% FG%
32% 3PT%

Be interesting to see how he’ll do going forward. Knicks just fired Hornacek so there will be a new coach there.

“will bring along two of his young point guards in Ntilikina and Emmanuel Mudiay as well as the Knicks’ 2017 second-round pick, shooting guard Damyean Dotson, on a trip to Beantown.”

“Dotson, 24, likely will move up on the ladder next season over Ron Baker, who went through an injury-riddled sophomore jinx of a campaign and was considered Jeff Hornacek’s guy.”

Good for Dot. Looks like he’s going to get a chance.

“My rookie year was decent,’’ Dotson said. “I wasn’t super consistent and I need to be more consistent with knowing my role and defensive assignments. Sometimes I slipped up on assignments. I learned a lot throughout the season about what I need to get better at. I think it showed toward the end of the season when I was getting more playing time. The G-League experience was also great for me. It helped my confidence, showing me that I belong. I was also able to score the basketball and grab rebounds and play like I did in college.”

At the Las Vegas summer league in early July, unless the Knicks draft another point guard, Ntilikina and Dotson could well be the starting backcourt.

“I want to play as many games as I can,’’ Dotson said. “It’s all about getting better. Hopefully, we play every game and win it.”
