One of six finalists for the Outland, Oliver is joined by five offensive linemen in earning the distinction – Oklahoma OT Orlando Brown, Notre Dame OT Mike McGlinchey, Notre Dame OG Quenton Nelson, Western Michigan OT Chukwuma Okorafor and Ohio State C Billy Price.

Wow. That says so much about how good he is. I tell people I know, fans of other teams, to go watch UH football and they always react very skeptically. Ed is my selling point. I say ‘Even if you don’t care about UH or who they are playing, you’ve got to see Ed Oliver live. He is so explosive and fast you won’t believe he goes 290.’

Most of them still don’t go and it’s their loss. He is our #1 reason for selling people on going to UH football this year and maybe next. Next year, maybe someone on offense will become the offensive Ed Oliver, but for now, he’s it.
