Oregon had a bit of a “down-year” last year and missed the NCAA tourney after 5 straight trips. They went 23-13 last year and lost in the 2nd round of the NIT to Marquette.

Looking at this year though, I’ve found two newspapers from the Northwest that both project Oregon to win the PAC-12 next year:

1. Oregon: Judged solely on returning production, the Ducks would be anything but a clear favorite: Only one player, Payton Pritchard, averaged double figures this season. But combine the presumed development of returning role players (Kenny Wooten, for instance) with the impact of uber-recruits Bol Bol and Louis King and Dana Altman’s coaching … and the end result is the best team and safest pick for the regular-season title. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Ducks finish two or three games clear of the competition.

The skinny: Oregon had its five-year streak of NCAA tournament appearances snapped and took a step back after losing four starters from a team that reached the Final Four in 2017. Dana Altman has had great success with transfers during his eight-year tenure with the Ducks, but he’s assembled his best recruiting class that ranks among the top 3 in the nation and includes three top 100 prospects. The best of the bunch is 7-1 freshman center Bol Bol who is projected to be a top-12 pick in the 2019 NBA draft and . Wooten, who led Pac-12 with 92 blocks, decided to forgo the draft while Troy Brown decided to turn pro and backup guard Keith Smith, who averaged 1.9 points and 1.4 rebounds, announced he’s transferring. Not entirely convinced Pritchard, who led Oregon in field goal attempts and assists, is the best option at point guard. But he’s developing into a star while White has shown flashes of brilliance, including a 19-point performance in a 101-92 double overtime loss to Marquette in the NIT second round. Plus, the pairing of Wooten and Bol in the front court allows Altman to play the defensive brand of basketball that characterized his Final Four team.
Projected 2018-19 Pac-12 finish: 1.

So a double header? AAC Championship game at 11 AM in TDECU and a night game at Fertitta Center?

we have all the big games we probably need as long as lsu remains respectable…

now just get some respectable buy games (150-230 rpi-ish games) and we are set for 2018-19 schedule

Remember when Pesik was freaking out in April about our schedule? LMAO.

This schedule is the best schedule in the Sampson era, and it’s not even close. A potential 5 tourney teams on our OOC schedule. And we still could have more. Wow.

To be honest, I was worried as well. The schedules under CKS so far haven’t been the toughest up to now so it wasn’t as if our fears were unfounded.

However, this is a very good schedule so far. Need to make sure we don’t fill the gaps with a number of 300+ RPI teams, but, otherwise, scheduling shouldn’t be an issue this year. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come going forward.

LET’S GO!

I don’t usually buy season tix for bball cause i don’t go to all the games but I’m paying my 30 dollar deposit now!

Geezus, with this schedule we’re going to have to earn a Tournament berth. Oregon has Bol Bol a big time 5 star prospect. If this doesn’t impress any HS basketball recruit in Texas, then nothing will to go along with Jumpman.

Nike owner who has a great working relationship with Jordan’s Jumpman and it’s the Nike brand is also an Oregon alumni.

just placed my 30 dollar deposit…let’s go!

this OOC schedule is the best schedule since I’ve been following UH bball my 12th grade year in HS (08-09) and it aint even close.

Suhweet!

Living in the Portland area, I get to go to a game in Eugene…against a hopeful future conference-mate.

just curious. how far is the drive between the 2 cities? i used to have relatives that live in Portland but now live in seattle.

Roughly 110 miles…or about two hours from Portland.

From Seattle, it would be about a five hour drive.

Interesting subplot for this one: Armoni Brooks and Victor Bailey Jr get to play against each other in this game. Two were teammates in high school and co-district MVPs 2 years ago.
