If ECU loses one game we will be the sole regular season champs.
Looking ahead a little but our first game of the AAC tournament will be Tuesday at 6 pm on the ADN against either Wichita or Tulane.
Speaking of Wich Baseball. The natives are getting restless.
You’d think after basketball season, Wichita fans would realize they’re swimming in a deeper pond in this league.
Exactly. They moved from the 16th best conference from a year ago to the 4th best conference.
Granted, they weren’t exactly good in the MVC the last two years as they had losing records in conference in each of them. Probably is time to move on from Butler.
SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA HITS
Southeastern Louisiana enters the final stretch of the regular season with a 35-19 overall record and a 22-9 mark at home.
The Lions are coming off a 12-9 win over South Alabama on Tuesday and have won five of their last six games.
SE Louisiana, as a team, is hitting .256 with 79 doubles, 15 triples and 39 home runs to accompany 288 RBI.
Leading the way offensively is Drew Avans with a .346 average, 66 hits and 42 RBI. Three Lions own at least a .300 average, as Cody Grosse follows with a .321 clip and a team-high 71 hits.
The pitching staff owns a 3.60 ERA and has struck out 416 hitters to 134 walks through 484.1 innings.
Opponents are hitting .248 against the Lion hurlers.
Carlisle Koestler paces the starters with a 2.95 ERA and a 7-1 record in 14 appearances and 12 starts. He has struck out 64 hitters and walked just 11 through 76.1 innings.
Josh Green follows with a 3.22 ERA and is 6-4 in 13 starts.
Out of the bullpen, SE Louisiana is paced by Bryce Tassin’s six saves in 16 appearances. He owns a 3.57 ERA and is 2-1.
SERIES HISTORY vs. SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA
Houston and Southeastern Louisiana have met just once in program history.
The Cougars and Lions faced off in the 2014 NCAA Baton Rouge Regional with the Cougars earning a 9-5 win at Alex Box Stadium.

I’m surprised they were as competitive as they were.
Bielo leading off? Interesting.
Bielo hits the 1st pitch down the line in right for a double and advances to third on an error. Padgett then gets him home on the next pitch on a grounder that the SS can handle…Coogs lead 1-0
With 1 out, Passed Ball moves Padgett to 2nd. Moves to 3rd on a Lockhart groundout, but is stranded.
M1…UH leads 1-0
Cumbie works a 1-2-3 inning with 2Ks. Got a feeling someone will get thrown out for SELA tonight as they’re already chirping loudly about strike calls.
T2…UH leads 1-0
Hollis with a leadoff single and Lovelace with a 2 out single are left stranded.
M2…UH leads 1-0
Another 1-2-3 inning with another K.
T3…UH leads 1-0
Padgett with a leadoff double. Wild pitch moves Padgett to 3rd. Triolo follows with a walk. Triolo steals 2nd and Lockhart singles both Home…Coogs lead 3-0
Davis follows with a single. Hollis grounder moves both up and a Coldiron sac fly scores Lockhart…Coogs lead 4-0
Etzel with a 2 out single but Davis is out at the plate.
M3…UH leads 4-0
Another 1-2-3 inning for Cumbiw with another 2K.
T4…UH leads 4-0
Bielo with a 1 out walk and Padgett singles him to 2nd. Triolo is hit by a pitch to load the bases. Double play ends it
M4…UH leads 4-0
