I apologize for not being around this week. Lot of life things happening right now and decided to take a week away from almost everything internet related. Feel a bit refreshed.

Asked whether the locker room remains upbeat, Jones said the Cougars remain “hungry” despite the rough start.

“We’re disappointed right now how we have been performing and how the games have turned out, but we’re still fighting to get better,” Jones said. “If you watch the games we play hard. Some stuff just doesn’t go our way.”

For the second straight week the Cougars may have to explore options at quarterback with Clayton Tune “somewhat limited” in practice as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Holgorsen can see the progress, even if the record says otherwise.

“We went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the conference (in last week’s 38-23 loss to Cincinnati) and had a chance to win in the fourth quarter,” he said. “I don’t think we are far off.”

« Saturday’s game will mark the third meeting between Houston and UConn, with the series tied 1-1. The Cougars won the last matchup between the two teams on Sept. 29, 2016, inside TDECU Stadium with a 42-14 victory.

« Houston is third in The American and 14th in FBS in rushing offense averaging 240.8 yards per game. The Cougars are one of four programs to have four different players with at least one 100-yard rushing game this season, joining Georgia Southern, Louisiana, South Carolina and Wyoming.

Pawdcast previews UCONN

This morning I reached a point of writer’s block where I threw up my hands and said to myself: ‘there’s no way I can come up with enough to do the usual Friday preview series’ and even posted as much this morning when tweeting out our most recent Cougar football redshirt tracker.

I’ve found a second wind of sorts as I attempt to write about a 2-4 Houston Cougar team taking on UConn Huskies football for hopefully the last time ever.
