I’m seriously busting at the seams over basketball. Day trips to Waco and weekends in Kansas City!

Kansas City isn’t so bad on weekends with the casinos.

Many years ago the old SWC was approached by ESPN to start a Monday night Basketball game featuring the conference. Guy V was a enthusiastic supporter of the concept & pushed for approval. The SWC powers head & University Presidents vetoed as having a Monday night game would take away from Academics. Can you imagine the success the SWC would have achieved if smarter heads would have prevailed? I feel there would still be a SWC & would be on par with the ACC, SEC & Big 10. What a wasted opportunity.

I liked our Sunday slots for big games but Monday works too.

In the fall, tough to go up against Monday Night Football.

Big Monday takes place in the winter. Do you think ESPN is gonna program against its own interests? C’mon man. :expressionless:

Yes, BIG Monday is pretty much Conf gms for BIG12 starting in Jan , when the NFL already has their playoffs starting. Otherwise wouldn’t work.

Was referencing @Longterm’s post. I should’ve clarified that a little better.

If I remember correctly, Big Monday would have been SWC in the early time slot (6:00 PM) and the Big 10 (8;00 PM) would have had the prime time slot. The SWC thought it would be better to have a syndicated package (Raycom) with a 7:00 Tip Off. Makes me wonder if the Big East would have been all that big if they had not gotten that slot after we turned it down. SWC was making a lot of bad decisions about that time.
