Grad Transfer: Landon Goesling - Committed & Signed 06/08

anyone notice gabe grant in these summer workout videos and gear stuff?

probably, but i noticed alan bishop started following sam his brother…alan is in charge of the summer workouts. it would be weird to follow the one not in the program but not the one in the program…and sam on social just posted some clips of them doing twin plays and said “its our time to shine” during move in

so we know at least one of them will be a a walk-on…probably won’t know for sure till the official roster is out

Grant’s twitter acct still has Univ Houston:basketball: in his profile .

Yes. Any chance he stays either on scholly or academic?

Gob Ray looks like junk. No way he sticks.

I’ve heard Gob is a pretty good baller that’s a little under the radar. Figure Coach Sampson can get him spun up pretty quickly.

Goesling is a great add. A pretty deep group of guards just got deeper.

This leaves us with how many open spots? Assuming Gabe Grant is staying after all.

1 spot that we are saving for kevin mccullar, but that should be decided by early july-ish

Nice. Agree that this is a great add for this time of year. If nothing else the 3pt shooting should hopefully translate to this level.

Im no mathematician but i dont want this kid to shoot 38% from anywhere at this level…

After that post I don’t think we’ll confuse you with a mathematician. 38% is very good. That translates to shooting 57% from inside the arc, not to mention that 3pt shooting spaces the floor and opens up more opportunities to score inside.

(38% from three is fine. Rob Gray shot 36% from three last year. 38% would have been 7th best in the conference.)

Well done. Take the L, have a laugh, and move on.

More than the 3-point shooting I like that he constantly slashed to the basket and drew fouls last year, and got to the line 9 times per game on average. I don’t think he’ll have as much success against D1 guards, but am encouraged he’s clearly not just a guy who bombs threes.

We need our guards to be a legit threat from 3, and have the ability to get to the basket and finish. That’s what made Rob Gray so lethal. Same for James Harden. You have to respect their shooting ability enough to not lag off. When you guard close, they can blow past you. Lack of being a 3 point threat is why most of us get so frustrated with Galen. If he was even a threat to shoot 30% from beyond the arc, it would open up the world to him.
