UH, the No. 6 seed in the “West” bracket, is promised $25,000 in cash if it makes a Final 4 (finals) in the tournament, and $50,000 if it wins the National Championship, per the school’s apparel contract with Nike. That’s on top of the more than $1.3 million the university is getting in cash and equipment in the 2017-18 school year.

And if the Cougars had won the American Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Championship — which they lost 56-55 to University of Cincinnati in the last seconds of the March 11 game — Nike would have given the team a $10,000 bonus.
