Wow! What an outstanding game all the way around…I look at my posts on earlier games and think to myself, “is this the same team?” Either way, I say Excelente! Go Coogs!

You seem fun. Take this garbage out of a thread about the biggest dang win of the season.

Weve hosted regionals 2 out of the last 3 times weve been in the tourney. Last year we were a three seed so im not sure about all th rest of the years we had bad seeding.

Really proud of Ryan Randel, had a brutal last few starts and held an SEC lineup completely in check. I had a good feeling when he made it past the first inning. Sean Bretz has also been a revelation out of the 'pen. It’s clear the coaching staff trusts him in high pressure situations, the same way they do Roedahl and Freddy.

Wasn’t our best hitting night, but great to see contributions from guys like Derrick Cherry and Kyle Lovelace. I think the most excited I’ve been at a Cougar baseball play in ages was when Lovelace went ‘dead red’ and took home plate on a ball that bad dribbled away from the Aggie catcher.

This was a huge win. A&M is a lot more mortal on weekdays, but I’ll take any win over the Aggies we can get. There’s work to do and this good work can definitely be undone but this team played itself right back into the tournament.

The pregame cockiness and gradual meltdown on TexAgs game thread was so cute and sweet to read. The only thing that I agree with snide comments made was about the Cougar all access being pathetic…which it is. But, apparently agi just can’t comprehend losing to a “smaller school” mid-week. LOL

HOUSTON NOTES
Offense:
• Cherry turned in a career-high three hits in a 3-for-4 effort. He finished with two singles, one of which for an RBI, and one double.
• Lovelace went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
• Fuentes III (1-for-3), Triolo (1-for-3) and Way (1-for-4) all recorded one hit. Way recorded an RBI double and one run scored, while Triolo also crossed home plate for the Cougars.
• Senior first baseman Joe Davis drew two intentional walks.

Pitching:
• Junior right-hander Ryan Randel (3-2) picked up his third win of the season. Randel, who carried a no-hit bid through five innings, allowed just one run on two hits and one walk across six and one-third innings.
• Junior Sean Bretz retired all five batters he faced across one and two-third scoreless innings of relief to get through the eighth.
• Junior Fred Villarreal worked around a leadoff hit by pitch to toss a scoreless ninth for his eighth save of the season.

Had a salty Aggy tell me we won because of our crappy field…

I don’t mind the turf field, but the pitching mound needs to be dirt. That thing looks awful. Looks like a piece of black carpet out there.

SPE,

Typical Aggie remark. We have a state of the art facility, but “we won because of our crappy field”, unless they had won.
