Houston Innovation District?

There’s an article in today’s Business section of the Chron that touts “Station Houston,” apparently as a “fast growing hub for technology startups.” In reading the article Station Houston seems to be piggy-backing on the Rice-led innovation district (a headline) with the conversion of the old Sears building purchased by RU. Wait a minute? What’s happened to the Energy Research Park southeast of campus. Wasn’t this to include a portion on innovation start-ups? Is Rice and this Station Houston pushing UH’s idea off the stage? Who can speak to this?

Here is more info on it. UH will be involved with it per Mayor Turner’s request, but it hasn’t replaced UH’s Energy Research Park.

The Energy Research Park has instead been refocused into a business incubator and tech startup area.

Thanks. Interesting to know.
