Woodfin became the women’s second head coach in program history in 1976 and coached the Cougars for nine seasons. In her time at Houston, Woodfin posted a 175-104 record and won 20 games in four of her nine seasons with the Cougars.

Woodfin helped the Houston women transition into Southwest Conference play, where she posted a 25-15 record in the league in three seasons. Woodfin also helped transition the Cougars from AIAW to NCAA play, and led the Cougars to five appearances in the AIAW State tournament and four AIAW regional berths in her first five seasons.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Coach Dot Woodfin,” Senior Associate AD/SWA DeJuena Chizer, who played for Woodfin, said. “She possessed the unique ability to make you feel like you were the most important person in the world at that moment and was a great role model for the young ladies she coached. Coach Woodfin was still in our lives, which was a testament to what kind of a person she was. She will truly be missed. Our Condolences to the Woodfin family.”
