What? I was at the game vs SMU. I missed 1 game this season and that was last Sunday. Relex
Red Panda > Mascot Basketball?
Red Panda the GOAT
Speaking of mascots, who claims the spotted dog and the sack (dumbest mascot in history of the world).
Athletic Dept is busting their humps to get butts in the seats . . . . .
Itâs a sad statement on UH alums and college basketball fans in Houston that this game requires the sports department to put an all-out promo blitz for this game. Regular price is $15. Some Texas high schools charge this much for a Friday night football game. And I cannot get anyone to bite on $5 tickets. It is what it is. Those of us that show up will have to make it sound like a sellout.
Whatâs even more sad is that less than 20% of the football season ticket holders will bother to get a ticket. Hopefully none of the ones that complain about the town not supporting the football program through attendance pass because âbasketball isnât their thing.â
This is what happens when you suck for 20+ years. The fanbase dies. If we keep winning, we will be selling out the new Hof in no time. Its much easier to sell out basketball arenas than to sellout stadiums. If we can sell out TDECU then we can fill 7k a night for a basketball game.
Our football program sucked for years until Briles, Sumlin and Herman came along. People went wild when it was announced Clyde was taking over our hoops program and we even sold out the first year, although before it was all said and done there were quite a few empty seats.
It can be done at UH, but it is obviously going to be tough. I agree with a previous poster that we would be doing better if we were playing at the Hof this year. But it is what it is and it has been this way in Houston since I was a kid.
Play some big name schools, beat some of them, and the fans will come. Until we actually shock the world we will continue to get zero support from the local media, including the dumb talk shows who still are talking about the Texans.
I just know this, if it can be done coach Sampson is the man to get it doneâŠ
not trying to make excuses but the fact its at 6 is most likely the reason for it. Its easy for me to come because I get off of work on richmnd and kirby at 5 and can take the streets to go down scott st to take a shuttle to tsu. I can only imagine how bad it is for people who get off at 5 on the northwest side of town. i wish the game was at 8 PM. I guarantee it would have already sold out. Had this game been on campus I have no doubts it would sell out either. It sucks because tickets are dirt cheap for this game and I havent seen a tweet in regards to it being close to a sell out.
DieHardCoog713âs point is one I made several posts ago in this thread. For example, one of my party comes from 290 near the Beltway. Getting off work at 5-5:30 means heâll get to the Heights 5:45 to 6:15 (depending on traffic, 290 is a beatch) then from the Heights to campus at that time, another 30 or so minutes, then catch the shuttle, another 10-15 minutes and maybe we get there by start time or a little after but just barely. And weâre all Hell-Or-High-Water fans. Less dedicated fans and I can understand why they wonât even try.
Kelvin Sampson speaks with the media about Thursdayâs home game against the Cincinnati Bearcats; how his team has changed since the first match-up against Cinci; the 20 wins benchmark; and much more
Iâm one of these people. If this was an 8:00 tip, or even a 7:00 tip, I could probably make it. But I work on the westside (almost Katy) and thereâs not a snowballâs chance in hell Iâm able to leave my office before 5:30 unless thereâs a family emergency. A 6:00 tip time is simply impossible for me. Iâll be watching on TV for this one because itâs the best I can do.
Every UH fan needs to watch this.

What is disappointing to me is that we have not had a thread saying that this game is near a sellout, or someone calling it a sellout LOLâŠour dot counters have been out of a job this yearâŠ
