Probably the last chance to see the Coogs in the Houston area this year. They head to Florida the next two weeks after this and then we’ll see their tourney fate.

Also, the Silver Glove is up for grabs in this one.

Dang it, why do these games always fall on my kids ball games!?!?!?!

Need to avoid a bad loss here…wish we could replace this game with FAU game that was cancelled last week!

Not me…playing a fired up Rice team will help get us ready for the final series against UCF and the conference tourney.
Not too often when two rivals can get together and get their fans excited.

They had the wrong live stats link, here’s the correct one:

Bottom 2nd

Pop out and a K end the inning.

T3…Tied 0-0…5 LOB for the Coogs so far

Top 3rd

2 walks, a bunt K and a wild pitch put runners on 2nd/3rd. Groundout to Burckel scores a run, runner to 3rd…Rice leads 1-0

K ends the inning

M3…Rice leads 1-0

Top 4th

Pettitte walks the first batter and Rooney goes to Bond.

HBP and then a grounder that Burckel bobbles, but ends up getting the batter at 1st, runners on 2nd/3rd with 1 out. Sac fly to Padgett, but runner out at 3rd…Rice leads 2-0

M4…Rice leads 2-0

Bottom 5th

New pitcher for Rice.

Triolo HBP to lead off. Burckel walks on 4 pitches. With one out, both runners steal 2nd/3rd. Cherry walks to load the bases. New pitcher for Rice.

Hurdsman on to pitch.

1 out single, followed by a HBP. Flyout allows the runner from 2nd to go to 3rd. K looking ends the threat.

M6…Rice leads 2-1

Cougar gloves have shown up in a big way tonight. Great play by Burckel earlier, Padgett made an incredible catch a few innings ago and also threw out a runner trying to advance, and Bielo just ran a ball down that he had no business catching.

Going to be a tough series this weekend. Note, this temporarily pushes Houston above FAU in RPI. Coogs need to win to maintain it.

14 LOB translates into almost 5 full innings of leaving the bases loaded.
